ok my friend gave me his system its a 4000 Watt Legacy amp with a 2400 Watt Pyle Chopper Series
i had a 1 farad Cap in it but it kept turning off to where no lights were on on it so i put in the cap. my friend had which was only .5 farad and its doing the same thing and idk what it is i checked the fuses and they are all good what is going on and right now its not turning off but im sure it will again soon but its not consistent and please don;t tell me to get rid of the cap because they to me are not useless cause mine has always made the system loader when the car is on i say this cause there is a lot of cap haters out there thanks for the help |

I hate caps and the only purpose they serve is for short bursts. Contant bass they help absolutely none.
Anyways, more than likely you're running the amplifier at too low of an impedance and causing it to clip out. You need to wire the subs up instead of down. I assume it's a 2 channel amplifier, right? This means that bridged it will only handle 4ohm or 2ohm per channel. What voice coil configuration are the subwoofers and how do you have them wired? |

Sounds like you have it wired in series which is fine. Take the cap out and see what happens. Then report back and let us know.
Also, check your grounds.

Okay let me ask you this.
When you wired the subwoofer up did you wire the + to the - on the other coil and vise versa? Or did you wire the + and - of one coil, then the same on the other? If that is wired correctly then you need a new ground, I'd have to guess. Last edited by MisterGrubbs; July 31st, 2010 at 10:44 PM. |
