So you did both sets like that and bridged the amp huh? That should give you a 4ohm load which is as good as it can get for that amplifier.

I wonder how much power that amp actually puts out. What kind of vehicle is it in and what kind of battery do you have, if you dont mind me asking? (Big or small will pretty much suffice)

Furthermore, try cleaning the ground up a little better if you can and see if it helps.

Also, no one said the cap was the problem here. Fact of the matter is that a cap will discharge energy very quickly for punchier bass, but once you get into a longer bass line the capacitor will run out of juice and(on top of the amplifier) it will start pulling power from the battery trying to recharge.

Edit - You said it's noticeably louder with the capacitor on there? Also, what did you mean by "sub not having the power"

its a 4000 watt max amp but i know that means nothing
i have the power turned almost all the way down and it is maxing out my 1200 watt rms sub
its in a 94 ford f-150 with the 5.8L so it had a big battery but when i last replaced it i put a bigger battery in it than it needed cause i had a system in it

like when the sub would hit just seem like it wasn't working right

im going to reinstall my system today using a new ground and cleaning it up and a thicker gauge wire

Yeah, let us know how it works out. If it's still causing you the same problems, it might be time to consider a new amplifier :/

Good luck! And MAKE SURE you clean those grounds right!
